Reid S. McCarthy, experienced in new venture development and a specialist in equity and banks financings, brings a diverse financial and operational background to QR Pharma, Inc. Most recently, Mr. McCarthy served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Topaz Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Mr. McCarthy arranged over $34 million in capital investment to fund the development and FDA approval of the company’s signature product. Mr. McCarthy and his colleagues successfully sold the company in late 2011 to Sanofi Pasteur, an international pharmaceuticals company. Prior to joining Topaz, Mr. McCarthy served as founding general partner of Atlantic Senior Development, LLC, a real estate development company engaged in the development of housing for low-income seniors.
During its five year history, ASD raised $24 million of equity and tax exempt bonds to develop and build 223 apartment units for seniors at two locations in Richmond, VA. Prior to his service with ASD, Mr. McCarthy served as Chief Financial Officer of Graphco Technologies, Inc., a start-up, high technology company engaged in the development of internet security and biometric software. Mr. McCarthy spent 7 years as a founder, President and Chief Executive Officer and board member of Atlantic Greenhouses, Inc., a venture capital-backed agribusiness company, that he grew through acquisitions and internal growth from a $4.0 million operation to a $30 million operation. Atlantic was successfully sold to a larger, public agribusiness company in September 1999. Mr. McCarthy’s past positions include Vice President of Financing for Trinity Capital Corporation, Director-Project Financing for ABB, Inc., and officer positions with several money center banks, including J.P. Morgan Chase. Mr. McCarthy holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of New Hampshire and an MBA in international finance from New York University.
